Debate on Health Care
University of Texas law professor Charles Silver and Louis Malfaro, vice president of the American Federation of Teachers, will debate “Private Insurance vs. Medicare for All.” Silver is an adjunct scholar at the Cato Institute, and Malfaro is currently working as a healthcare justice organizer in Texas with the Debs Jones Douglass Institute.

Teaching Climate Change and Environmental Justice Workshop
Bill Bigelow, co-director of the Zinn Education Project, will offer a free full-day workshop on teaching about climate change and environmental justice. Bigelow will introduce lessons from the Rethinking Schools book he co-edited, A People’s Curriculum for the Earth: Teaching Climate Change and the Environmental Crisis, and each participant will receive a free copy.

“The Bleeding Edge” examines the $400 billion medical device industry, focusing on lax regulations, corporate cover-ups, and profit-driven incentives that put patients at risk daily.
