Language Justice, a Community Conversation with Indigenous and Asian-American activists
The Austin Language Justice Collective will host an event with Anh Ly, a senior at UT-Austin and language justice researcher and activist, who will present her insights on the experience of speakers of Vietnamese in Austin, and Odilia Romero and Janet Martinezare leaders of the indigenous-run organization, the Front of Indigenous Binational Organizations in Los Angeles, who will discuss organizing for language rights in Los Angeles since the 1990s.

Screening of "Dirt Rich"
This new documentary demonstrates that regenerative agriculture and reforestation are needed to ensure a global food supply and to mitigate climate change. A panel with the filmmaker will follow.

Law and the Reproduction of Food Poverty
Tomaso Ferrando, a Lecturer in Law at the University of Bristol, will speak on “Law and the Reproduction of Food Poverty.” Author Raj Patel from the LBJ School of Public Affairs will respond to Ferrando’s talk.

Ashley Farmer on “The Black Women Intellectuals and Activists Who Revolutionized Black Power”
University of Texas professor Ashley Farmer <https://www.ashleydfarmer.com/bio/> will speak research on women in the Black Panther Party, focusing on the multi-faceted roles that they played in the Party’s organizational and ideological development and how they crafted the ideal of the “black revolutionary woman” in popular and political culture. Farmer is the author of Remaking Black Power: How Black Women Transformed an Era, a comprehensive history of black women’s political and intellectual contributions to the Black Power movement.
