Screening of “The Occupation of the American Mind”
The new Media Education Foundation<http://www.mediaed.org/> documentary “The Occupation of the American Mind: Israel’s Public Relations War in the United States<http://www.occupationmovie.com/>” analyzes the news coverage and political discourse around the Israel/Palestine conflict. Israel’s ongoing military occupation of Palestinian territory and its invasions of the Gaza strip have triggered a backlash against Israeli policies virtually everywhere in the world—except the United States. Narrated by Roger Waters and featuring leading observers of the conflict, the film explores how the Israeli government, the U.S. government, and the pro-Israel lobby have joined forces, often with very different motives, to shape American media coverage of the conflict in Israel's favor.
University of Texas professor Robert Jensen<http://robertwjensen.org/> will lead a discussion after the film. Read his review of the film at Counterpunch<http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/03/25/the-occupation-of-the-american-mind-israels-public-relations-war-in-the-united-states/>.

Documentary: "Anne Braden: Southern Patriot"
White Allies of Racial Equity is hosting a screening and discussion of a documentary about Anne Braden<http://annebradenfilm.org> Charged with sedition for attempting to desegregate a Louisville, Kentucky neighborhood in 1954, Anne Braden used the attacks to turn herself "inside out" and embrace a lifetime of racial justice organizing matched by few whites in American history. She was hailed by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in his 1963 Letter from Birmingham Jail as a white southerner whose rejection of her segregationist upbringing was “eloquent and prophetic,” and named as one of only five southern whites he could count as allies.
Anne Lewis, the film’s director, will be present for discussion and questions after the screening. Facebook event listing is here<https://www.facebook.com/events/1537463589892431/>.
